INVASIVE PLANT CONTROL TRAINING for Professionals and Serious Land Owners

The Sycamore Trails Resource Conservation and Development’s Invasive Plant Committee
will be coordinating the training sessions and handling registration.

4 Locations Statewide

Ø April 12, 2010  Southern Indiana Purdue Ag Center in Dubois County, IN

Ø April 13, 2010  Southeast Purdue Ag Center in Jennings County, IN

Ø April 27, 2010  Whitley County Fairgrounds / Northeast Purdue Ag Center in Whitley County, IN

Ø April 28, 2010  Delphi Wabash & Erie Canal Center, Carroll County, IN

 

8:30-9:00 a.m.  Registration

9:00 a.m. – 4 p.m. Program

Cost is $40.00 per person.  Download a registration form here.

*** Bring your own lunch.  Drinks and snacks will be provided by the Sycamore Trails RC&D Council, Inc.    This is a rain or shine event - dress for the weather.  ***

Indoor Training 9am-12pm

  • Ellen Jacquart– Invasive Species Identification and Impacts.
  • Ron Rathfon– Management Strategies: Getting a Grip on Invasives.
  • NRCS Specialist– 2010 Program Requirement for WHIP & EQIP

Outdoor Training 1-4pm

  • Purdue Foresters Don Carlson and Ron Rathfon team up with Purdue’s habitat specialist Matt Kraushar and The Nature Conservancy’s Ellen Jacquart to provide outdoor training on invasive plant control.  Topics to be discussed and demonstrated:
    • Measuring the Degree of Infestation and Control
    •  Efficient and Effective Control Methods
    • Strategizing for Control in 3 Years
